Study Material: Acts 1:10-11
10 And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;
11 Which also said, ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.
Nothing can be more certain and imminent than the fact that Jesus is coming back (v11). His first coming was foretold and fulfilled. His second coming was foretold by Himself and the angels, and it must come to pass. At rapture, His coming is only for the saints – dead and alive. But at His second coming, He will come as a judge of the whole world. All eyes shall see Him, including those that pierced Him. Scripture says in Mathew 24:27 that for as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
If you are in Christ, you must not be frightened nor perplexed at His coming as people that have no hope. Again, if you are in Christ, you must rejoice because this same Jesus shall come again in His own person, clothed with a glorious body. This same Jesus, who came once to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself, will appear a second time without sin (Hebrews 9:26, 28). This same Jesus who once came in shame and disgrace to be judged by men, will come again in glory as the judge of all. This same Jesus who has given you a charge to occupy till He comes, will come again to call you to account on how you have performed your trust.
Are you ready to give an account? I saw a joke that says that accounting is the only profession that is in heaven and on earth because we must give an account in heaven and on earth. Are you ready for that judgment? Are you ready for the second coming of Jesus Christ? It is not a joke.
