Study Material: Genesis 30:27
27 But Laban said to him, “If I have found favor in your eyes, please stay. I have learned by divination that the Lord has blessed me because of you.”
Today’s Teaching:
One benefit of the Kingdom is that we become beneficiaries of the blessings of God; and whomever God has blessed, no man can curse. They may use their mouths to curse you, but it would be of no effect because when God says yes to you, no man can say no. When God blesses you, it becomes infectious and even others benefit from your blessing. This was the situation of Laban when Jacob worked for him for 14 years. Jacob was so blessed that even his boss Laban was blessed. Jacob was not rich at that time. He was just blessed.
The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it (Prov 10:22). Are God’s blessings things? Are they houses, cars, jewelry or money? God’s blessing is not the wealth, but the ability to make wealth. God blesses us with gifts and talents. He also blesses us with ideas and helpers. But fundamentally, God grants us favor. One day of favor is better than 100 days of labor. These are all benefits of being members of the Kingdom and living Kingdom lives.
Although the unrighteous also seemed to be blessed, it is temporary. "Behold, these are the ungodly, who are always at ease; they increase in riches. Surely I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocence…….. until I went into the sanctuary of God; then I understood their end. Surely You set them in slippery places; You cast them down to destruction. Oh, how they are brought to desolation, as in a moment! They are utterly consumed with terrors" (Psalms 73:12-19).
Take Home Lesson: Even though the unrighteous seem to be blessed and doing better than the righteous, their success is temporary. Their end will come with sorrow; but the blessings of God will add no sorrow.
Homework: Thank God for Jesus Christ and the salvation of your soul. Ask the Lord for wisdom to use your blessings to benefit you, your family and those whom God wants to use you to bless.
