Study Material: Ephesians 1:20-22
20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:
22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church.
One of the worse things that could happen to somebody is to be seated in a high place and be expelled from there. This is what happened to Satan. He was in heaven, highly placed in the Kingdom of God; and then he let pride and envy cause him to be expelled. He was in the best place, but wanted more. He was dissatisfied with the great privilege that God had given him.
Sound familiar? Many of us cry to God for a change because we feel that our current season is terrible. We blame enemies and even God Himself when things do not change for the better. But the truth is that some of life’s seasons come upon us because we lose our positioning. The Bible records that as Believers, God hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus (Eph 2:6). Where is Jesus seated? Far above principalities and powers (v21). All things are under Jesus’ feet (v22). So if we are seated with Christ, then all wickedness, all enemies, all witches and all wizards are under our feet. Praise the name of the Lord.
The problem for us as Believers is that we tend to forget or sometimes, we tend to not understand our position in Christ. Some end up like Satan; and due to pride, envy and jealousy, they focus on the grace that God has bestowed on others and then lose out on their position. Seasonal changes will come, and Satan will try to bring you down; but focus on who you are and where you sit. Do not lose your position or allow yourself to be fooled by Satan to compromise it. You can deal with any change of season in this life if you maintain your position.
Homework: Say Father, please help me to maintain my position in you. Let me never be like Satan who took his position for granted.
