Study Material: Hebrews 2:14-15
14 Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil,
15 and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery.
When Satan influenced men to mock, try and kill Jesus, they had no idea that they were only walking in line with a master plan for salvation of mankind. Jesus had already offered Himself up as a Living Sacrifice who would walk to His death as a lamb being led to the slaughter (Is 53:7). Although the enemy thought that they were getting rid of Jesus, He partook in death and it rendered the devil powerless (v14). Therefore, we should not fear death if we live in Christ (v15). God has promised, and we know, that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose (Rom 8:28). They killed Jesus; but it worked out for His good and ours. Every plot against your life will work out for your good in Jesus’ name.
Every time I am confronted with an attack, my Pastor reminds me saying: “Pastor, behold they shall surely gather together, but not by Him: whosoever shall gather together against thee, shall fall for thy sake (Is 54:15). This promise of God is such a source of comfort for me and it should be for all believers. Judas gathered against Jesus and he surely fell – he committed suicide. As it was with the betrayers of Jesus, so shall it be with your enemies. Every evil working of theirs would be turned around for your good. Even while they are planning, God is working it out for you.
They thought that killing Jesus would end His superiority, popularity and power. But to the contrary!! Killing him led to a greater display of His power and His superiority. Still today, He is the most popular man. The grave that man created could not hold Jesus. Likewise, every pit that they have dug for your downfall will not hold you. The Lord will go ahead of you and cover every pit in Jesus’ name. God will work it out for you and ultimately, every situation will work out for your good.
Take Home Lesson: In every situation of your life, His promises assure you that He is working things out for you.
Homework: Pray and say, ‘Father, please bring to pass your promises regarding all things working together for my good, and that of those who gather against me falling for my sake. Let all the evil plotters against my life fall never to plot again.’
