Study Material: Romans 12:2
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.
Today’s Teaching:
During the course of last year, so many teachings mentioned the ‘will of God’. When we spoke of going beyond our limits, we talked about the will of God. When we taught on prayer, we talked about praying the will of God. Most of the teachings on our walk with God mentioned us walking within the will of God. But fundamental to this is the question: ‘What is the will of God’? To ensure that everyone is on the same page, we will take a few days to look at the will of God.
Today’s scripture says to us that our mindset, thinking, attitudes and behaviors should not be aligned (conformed) to the worldly standards that we see around us. If we are not to be conformed to this world, then what should we be conformed to? What is the opposite or alternative to this world? The only one who exists outside of this world is God. So we are to have a renewal of our minds towards God. When we do that, we will walk within His will. His will is what He desires for us; and the facts established in this scripture are that:
1. The will of God is good
2. It is acceptable, and
3. It is perfect
If you followed your own thoughts, your own desires and your own imaginations without checking with God, then He is saying to you today, “It was not my will”. May you always walk within the will of God. May you and your children never forsake His will. May God give you the grace, strength and humility to never seek your will but to always follow His will.
Take Home Lesson: The will of God is the only will that should be done.
Homework: Reflect over your life and the things that you have done outside of His will. Repent and ask for His mercy.
