The words of God are delivered through various media. God speaks to us using varying approaches; and His words come in different forms. Let’s look at 4 of the speech channels:
1. The Bible – This is God’s written word. All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness (II Tim 3:16).
2. Jesus Christ – He is the Living Word. Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world (Heb 1:1-2).
3. Directly – God does speak directly. Hebrews 1:1b says that God spoke to our fathers by the prophets. He spoke through prophets. For those people, it was direct. He gave them messages for others, but also spoke to them directly for themselves. I have received the audible voice of God once in my life in 1998; and how I crave to hear it again.
4. God speaks through other Believers – I just heard God tonight through a very powerful Man of God who is my Daddy in the Lord. He wrote to me just to check on me; and I perceived that he had a word for me today. I asked him and he gave it to me. ‘Thus said the Lord” is still relevant today. God still gives words to other Believers to encourage their brethren.
God speaks to us is so many ways; but one thing is sure; and that is the fact that God’s words give us hope. His words are reassuring. His words comfort. When you are in the midst of a battle and going through some tumultuous times, the word of God presents peace in the times of storm. The matter what form His word is delivered to you in, He has guaranteed that your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left” (Is 30:21 NASB).
God bless you!
